For
Nikou Mohajerani, CEO of The Vantage Co, effective management isn’t just
reserved for those born with natural leadership abilities. Cultivating great
management habits is important for any executive who is responsible for
managing others. In fact, she believes effective management is more about
practicing effective management habits than innate talent. Nikou shares these
tips for successful leadership with her team through ongoing coaching:
-
Set Big
Goals: Any executive looking to improve as a manager can benefit from the
practice of goal setting. Doing so is an effective way to focus your effort and
put you in a proactive rather than reactive frame of mind. “I coach my team to
set goals that are attainable and then keep them motivated to hit goals. I am
always motivating and inspiring my team to chase their dreams. No goal is too
big to attain.”
-
Help Others
Succeed: It’s important for good managers to ensure their team members each
understand their role and how they contribute to the larger picture, but more
importantly, to help individuals achieve their own objectives. Doing so is an
effective way to leverage your leadership abilities. “I always put my team’s
success before my success.”
-
Promote
Learning: Professional development is key to avoiding stagnation as individuals
or as a corporate entity. Promoting ongoing learning is a great way to keep
ideas fresh and team members engaged. “I make it a priority to ensure we’re
always learning within our office.”
Nikou
is a fine example of someone who has mastered the skills necessary to be
effective in management, and continues to be an inspiration to her team.
