Nikou Mohajerani in the Heart of Los Angeles

Nikou Mohajerani has lived in Los Angeles, California the majority of her life, and though the city has its challenges, she has nothing but affection for it. She discusses her appreciation of the city.

To start, there are many social activities Nikou is able to enjoy because of her location. For instance, she explains, “I love the beach. I often go to the ocean to experience its serenity. It’s a great place to meditate and do yoga, as well as a wonderful place to enjoy sunsets. I love looking at the ocean because it is infinite and reminds me every day to dream big. Nothing is unattainable.”

Perhaps the greatest value the city provides is its diversity. “There’s a very diverse group of people here that come together to work toward common goals. It is a melting pot of different cultures and opportunities. I want the same environment of equal opportunity and diversity in my company.”

In fact, because of the city’s diversity, there is always something new to learn from highly experienced people form every culture in the world. She has taken the time in particular to learn salsa dancing in Santa Monica and enjoys ethnic foods at restaurants such as Koi in Beverly Hills.

LA has instilled many great values into Nikou, and she’s grateful for the opportunities the city has afforded her over the years. She enthusiastically invites anyone else to move to LA to experience it for themselves!

Nikou Mohajerani’s Advice to Young Adults

As a volunteer who works with youth at risk, and someone who sought independence at a young age, Nikou Mohajerani understands some of the challenges faced by young people today. She recently sat down to talk about advice for ambitious young adults:

1.     Set Goals and Have a Game Plan: Setting goals and then checking them off the list is key to being successful. When working with the young people she mentors, she has them look at the short term and the long term to create a vision of where they want to be in a week, a month, a year, and five years. What’s more, she encourages them to always hit goals on time or faster.

2.     Establish a Supportive Environment: Surrounding yourself with positive people who are also aiming high is important for staying focused on the bigger picture and not being distracted by the little things.

3.     Keep Moving: No matter what happens, it’s important to keep pushing ahead, regardless of whether you hit setbacks or obstacles. Those who stay in the same place never make progress.

4.     Be the Person You Expect Others to Be: You have expectations of others, but are you embodying those yourself? You need to be the person you want others to be if you want to lead.

5.     Go to College: Nikou stresses that an education is important for expanding your worldview and mastering basic skills that will serve you for the rest of your life.

Finally, Nikou wishes someone had told her when she was young that age is nothing. “Don’t worry about how old you are. Whatever you want to be, just go do it. Dream with no limits.”

PRESS RELEASE: Nikou Mohajerani Demonstrates Leadership as a CEO who Gives Back

May 28, 2014 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Nikou Mohajerani has always believed that giving back to the community is important as a business leader. As an individual determined to make a name for herself in the corporate world, she knows that being socially responsible will pay dividends for her reputation, but is motivated more by her desire to be a good citizen.

In her own words, “You can only get what you are willing to give.” For Nikou, that means the more positive actions you take, the more positivity will be returned to you. “Are you willing to give your time to help people be successful? If you are, then you will be able to find success, too.”

As such, she has taken on numerous causes about which she is most concerned. To start, she has a desire to be a strong example of female success to young women. She volunteers with high-risk youth as a mentor and an advocate. Working in high schools and community centers, she aims to guide vulnerable girls as they make important life choices.

Nikou has also been a regular volunteer for an assisted living home where she acts as a friend to the elderly by visiting with them, listening to their stories, and helping them feel valued and loved. These two giveback activities provide tremendous fulfilment to Nikou and are activities she intends to maintain for years to come.

Nikou Mohajerani: World Travels

As the CEO of The Vantage Co, Nikou Mohajerani has many opportunities to engage in business travel, but she also loves to spend time seeing the world in her personal time. She talked about some of her favorite occasions and destinations for travel.

Perhaps most frequent are the corporate trips she takes with her company. Every year, the firm participates in an industry conference in a tropical destination like Jamaica or Puerto Rico to recognize top performers. She and her team also organize off-site strategy sessions in locations such as Cabo San Lucas. Her executives also enjoy local destinations like Dallas and Chicago for leadership conferences.

For Nikou, corporate travel has many benefits. “Conferences and meetings keep driving people to be successful. There is a lot of encouragement, motivation, and inspiration as well as the chance to meet people face-to-face and network. Plus it exposes you to different demographics and forces you out of your comfort zone.”

When preparing her team to participate in corporate travel, Nikou encourages them to follow these tips:

-        Balance work and pleasure.
-        Pre-empt all negative situations by setting expectations.
-        Be open to new experiences and cultures.

When she’s not traveling for work, Nikou enjoys traveling to places like Barcelona, Spain. “I love the vibe and the family-oriented culture. People are laid back and free spirited. It is a very culturally diverse place.”

She also enjoys Italy where she has family, as well as New York and Miami. “I appreciate the directness of the individuals - everyone knows what they want and they get after it.”

From a young age, she was involved in a range of activities, including art, piano, and basketball. Encouraged to put academics first by her father who studied with her each evening, and to reach for the stars by her mother who told her she could accomplish anything she set her mind to, Nikou’s family life was instrumental to her success from early on. It was the determination they instilled in Nikou’s character that led her to become independent at the age of 15, entering the workforce in order to provide for herself and put herself through college.

Nikou Mohajerani studied at the University of California, San Diego, delving into biology and structural engineering before settling on a major in management science and international relations. Nikou knew she wanted to locate herself in a region that would challenge her to think big, and so she returned to her roots where she established The Vantage Co. She continued to overcome obstacles when, two weeks of opening her new business, Nikou found herself severely under-staffed and working 12-16 hours daily in order to stay in business.
